Brief Biographical Sketch:

Joe was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1991. He received a Bachelor's degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in 2013. In 2016, he was with the information processing group at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and he received the M.S. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of California, San Diego, where he is currently a Ph.D. candidate. His graduate research focuses on linear and non-linear network codes over various algebraic structures, such as finite fields, rings, and modules. Joe has been a teaching assistant for courses on circuits, probability, and data compression. He will be teaching an introductory signal processing class this summer.
