Brief Biographical Sketch:
I am lifelong learner with a passion for helping others. Most recently, I taught chemistry at Eastlake High School in Chula Visa. In 2017, I received a national teaching award from the National Science Teachers Association. I am a certified Mindfulness Educator and Inquiry Educator. I hold two Master's degrees: one in biomedical sciences from the University of Hawaii and the other in teaching and learning from UCSD. I earned my Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, and anthropology from Boston University. I am currently pursuing a doctorate in education at Johns Hopkins University, focusing on mind, brain, and learning Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked a science writer for national publications, including: The New York Times, Science, and Nature. I also worked for three years in a research laboratory to develop a vaccine for malaria.
