Brief Biographical Sketch:

I am an Assistant Professor in the Nanoengineering department at UC San Diego, where my research group works on unlocking insights into defects in energy materials to both improve efficiency and lower cost of solar power and solar energy storage.

I completed a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2013 based on my work on high-temperature defect engineering of metal impurities in silicon solar cells. Before coming to UCSD, I also worked at a silicon solar wafer startup company, 1366 Technologies.

I am a materials scientist and an engineer, a huge proponent of renewable energy and PV especially, and definitely a nerd.
